PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

If you'd like to set up a regular maintenance schedule, I'll customize a program to fit your needs. Some of the goals of preventative maintenance are to detect failing hard drives before they actually stop working and to prevent crashes, kernel panics and slow operation. Here are some of the things I will do to keep your Mac running smoothly.

Assess your Backup situation. Is it working? Do you even have one? I have a simple, easy, and affordable plan.

Repair your permissions.

  • Do a file system check to check the integrity of the Operating System.

  • Clean out caches. Your Mac stores a lot of frequently used data in a cache. Over time, these files can build up to rather large quantities and occasionally become corrupted.

  • Run Mac HelpMate to do Cron maintenance scripts, clean swap files, check for corrupted preferences.

  • If needed, repair directory with specialized software tools.

  • Run Apple Software Updates, and other important third party security updates.

  • Clean up duplicated and unneeded installer files, fix improper installs. Clean up file organization as needed.
